LOSTPROPHETS Members Are 'In A State Of Shock' Following Singer's Arrest
December 19, 2012LOSTPROPHETS members Lee Gaze (guitar),Mike Lewis (guitar),Stuart Richardson (bass),Jamie Oliver (keyboards) and Luke Johnson (drums) have released the following statement regarding the arrest of their singer, Ian Watkins, on charges of sexual offenses against children:
"Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers."
Watkins was reportedly refused bail and will remain in custody until December 31. Along with him, two women aged 20 and 24 have been remanded in custody on similar charges.
The 35-year-old musician is charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a one-year-old girl and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Peter Doyle said: "Specially trained staff are available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation and a dedicated telephone number has been set up.
"I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us.
"Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken."
LOSTPROPHETS has sold more than three million albums worldwide and topped the U.K. chart with 2006's "Liberation Transmission".
The band's most recent CD, "Weapons", came out in April.
